President Trump Back to USA Back to Tweeting

Image
Politics Numerous media outlets have reported at  President Trump is back from his whirlwind foreign trip, and lashing out on Twitter. It seems, Trump is furious about recent revelations reported in the media sourced from leaks. Many in the media had wondered all long Trump would be able to stay away from tweeting once he returned to the U.S. That didn't take long!

The Week That Was

Image
Recap 2226 TCC began a light week, once again, wondering what is going on at MSNBC, and Will Lawrence O'Donnell Survive MSNBC's Center Lean . Media outlets have cited the addition of Greta Van Susteren , Nicolle Wallace , and potential hires of conservative pundits Hugh Hewitt and George Will as a sign of where MSNBC is heading. O'Donnell was absent from his show twice this week, then returned on Friday.  Stay tuned. To Hell in A Handbag may be where TCC is heading to, as Handbag Maven  is launched to feed our handbag addiction! Finally, there' a Megyn Kelly Promo for 'Sunday Night' Released . We're left wondering if NBC News will use Megyn Kelly's weekly magazine to compete with 60 Minutes and draw a more conservative audience. As much as politics is consuming the media, retail is too. We found an interesting article on J.Crew's Upheaval  in the New York Times. Have a good weekend!

What We're Reading - J.Crew's Upheaval

Image
Print Media Great piece in the New York Times ' Style and Fashion section on J.Crew . It seems the once "accessible version of high fashion" is facing a bit of an upheaval .  Some in TCC had been turned off to J.Crew for more customer service related reasons, however the article makes sense as J.Crew ceased to be the go-to store it had been a few years ago, and there are lots of young professionals and moms with strollers at  J. Crew Factory ! It seems the discount stores always have a way of undercutting the retail.

Television Finally, after Tamron Hall's departure from Today and the resulting brouhaha, ( MSNBC and Andy Lack are once again embroiled in another high profile exit with Lawrence O'Donnell that left TCC wondering Will Lawrence O'Donnell Survive MSNBC's Center Lean. ), NBC News released its promo for Megyn Kelly's new show, " Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly ", a weekly magazine program. The show will air on Sundays at 7p.m. for a limited summer run, then return after NBC's sports related programming has concluded next spring. It will be interesting to see if NBC News thinks Kelly will be a strong competitor to " 60 Minutes ". Kelly's 9 a.m. news program is scheduled to begin airing this fall. You can see the promo below:

Retail Or, is it for the love of a handbag? TCC has launched Handbag Maven  to satisfy our interest and love of handbags. While retail as a whole has been thrust into an uncertain future, the market for designer handbags is strong. One doesn't necessarily have to purchase a "designer" handbag since there are so many designers today who have "inspired by" handbags that are affordable. Handbags remain the centerpiece of a woman's wardrobe. Therefore, TCC will be checking out the latest releases from those coveted designers and inspired-by collections, because we love handbags too!

Will Lawrence O'Donnell Survive MSNBC's Center Lean

Cable News The saga of Lawrence O'Donnell leaving, at least in the press, MSNBC began several weeks ago. The stories were centered around MSNBC's Andy Lack removing " The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell " from what has become a successful primetime (O'Donnell's show veers into the tail end of primetime) lineup. There didn't seem to be a programming reason for potentially chopping the show, but a few sites were indicating it was the lack of contract negotiations. Last week C NN ’s Brian Stelter wrote a piece for CNN Money indicating O'Donnell " confirms he may be leaving MSNBC ". Stelter cited no deal was in the works based on a tweet from O'Donnell. This week, it seems, MSNBC is engaging in serious talks with O’Donnell’s agency after intense fan pressure. (In support of O’Donnell his fans have planned a march at NBC headquarters in New York on May 25th.) TCC was wondering what would MSNBC program in The Last Word’s timeslo...

Morning Mika and Joe NBC are Engaged

Image
Media Cohosts of MSNBC 's " Morning Joe ", Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough are engaged. The announcement felt more like letting the cat out of the bag, but regular viewers of the show were probably not surprised. The body language and repartee of Brzezinski and Scarborough made the announcement a foregone conclusion. TCC's response was like that of SNL's. We saw it coming, but we're not sure what to make of it:

Coach Finally Bought Kate Spade

Image
Fashion There was talk that perhaps Michael Kors might buy Kate Spade, but TCC always thought Coach made more sense. What would be the purpose in a brand, that derives a lot of its designs from "inspired by", buying another brand that has the design philosophy. The sale of Kate Spade cost Coach 2.8 Billion dollars. With its own sold customer base (who doesn't have a vintage coach in their closet) perhaps Coach can add a luxury element to Kate Spade that broadens the brand's appeal beyond its millennial base.
