Congratulations Billy Elliot, the Musical

Image
Billy Elliot, an underdog story about a boy who dreams of dancing, won 10 Tony Awards and the 3 young actors that play Billy shared the leading actor award. We in the CC saw this fabulous production last month and knew it was an award winning musical. We also love Sir Elton John. This musical is worth seeing more than once!

PHILLY-WOOD

Another brick in that growing edifice known as Philly-wood got the spotlight recently. During a panel at the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention, Chicago journalist Greg Walker announced that he and actor Wesley Snipes were collaborating on an animated production, Zulu Mech 1 based on Walker’s Shades of Memnon book. The book features the adventures of an African hero. Walker said the official announcement would by made on May 30 at the Black Books Expo at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City. The comics convention was held May 16 in Philadelphia. This was the sixth annual gathering of comic book writers, artists and fans. The annual event routinely draws enthusiasts from both coasts including actor-screenwriter Kevin Grevioux (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) and Philadelphian L.A. Banks author of the Vampire Huntress Legend novels. Banks said she has sold the option on the series in an effort to pitch it to the studios. For more details go to… Check out my blog at http://www.
