One doesn't necessarily have to purchase a "designer" handbag since there are
so many designers today who have "inspired by" handbags that are affordable luxury. However, handbags remain the centerpiece of a woman's wardrobe.
Fall 2020 - Lockdown Looks

Considering the lengthy lockdown and limited ability to see and be seen, it's been a little difficult to check out the hot handbags that are being slung, held and carried.
We noticed on our few outings, mostly at the local Whole Foods, most women have been pulling back on the logo-laden handbags and opting for, believe it or not, upscale recycled grocery bags, along with waist bags (Prada has revived its cool nylon bags) and the LV bumbag. We're guessing takes both hands to sanitize as you shop!

Call us old fashioned, we prefer classic, but we've fallen in love with Celine's Clasp Bag. First seen on the Spring/Summer 2017 Runway. This type of bag, in technical terms, is a "Frame Bag" that probably became popular in the 1950s and 60s. The Clasp bag exudes the quiet refinement and timeless elegance we adore. It's the ultimate lady-like handbag with the craftsmanship to back it up. We think, probably not, Celine's Clasp bag is a nod to Queen Elizabeth II and her (some call stodgy) Launer handbags, of which, it's been reported that HRH has some 200. Our kind of lady!

Chanel's - Gabrielle bagChanel |
It's only fitting we would begin with this "gender neutral" handbag. While other designers have entered this market too, Chanel made a splash with its film starring Pharrell wearing the Gabrielle. The bag is versatile enough, as it can be carried numerous ways, but remains classic enough to avoid the "trend trap". We can definitely see the gender bender in the Gabrielle.
