Another brick in that growing edifice known as Philly-wood got the spotlight recently. During a panel at the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention, Chicago journalist Greg Walker announced that he and actor Wesley Snipes were collaborating on an animated production, Zulu Mech 1 based on Walker’s Shades of Memnon book. The book features the adventures of an African hero. Walker said the official announcement would by made on May 30 at the Black Books Expo at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City. The comics convention was held May 16 in Philadelphia. This was the sixth annual gathering of comic book writers, artists and fans. The annual event routinely draws enthusiasts from both coasts including actor-screenwriter Kevin Grevioux (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) and Philadelphian L.A.
