NBC's "Saturday Night Live" 40th Anniversary Special was star studded and drew ratings the network has not seen, for an entertainment telecast, in years. The primetime special aired from 8-11, and in early Nielsen reporting, averaged a 7.8 rating in the key demo with 23 million viewers. From what we've seen in social media Bill Murray's performance was the highlight of the evening. Other reporting served up mixed reviews. The New York Times declared the SNL Special "very funny, except when it wasn't." Here's Bill:

Ratings At 9PM on April 6, a total of 6.6 million viewers (including us) were watching the often bloody and grisly "Game Of Thrones" season 4 premiere. This was GoT's most-watched episode to date, and the most-watched episode of any HBO series since 2007. Season four of GoT was up 52% from season three's premiere. Another 1.6 million viewers watched the show at 11PM and 1AM. Bringing the Nielsen's ratings up to 8.2 million. HBO GO (where our members were able to get caught up) is expected to drive the numbers even higher. As we've stated before, we just wish GoT would pick up the pace just a little bit. Reviews for Kerry Washington's appearance on SNL , considering Saturday Night Live was dealing with a very public issue concerning the lack of black females on the show, seems to have focused the diversity problem (like a laser) on the writing staff as well. Could diversity among the writing staff be the issue, too?
