Oxygen Rides Crime Wave

TCC recently read a piece about NBCUniversal's cable network Oxygen revamping its programming to focus on crime-related programs that will appeal to "young women"(a demographic that is widely sought after). The move to fill its schedule with "crime time" shows is, of course, related to the ratings success and promise of crime shows.

Oxygen is under pressure to grow and not just maintain its core audience. TCC just wonders why crime-related programs are the answer, as there is a proliferation of these shows, for young women and what the net effect will be over time.
