The 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards Show Conversation

Image
There seemed to be a lot to talk about this year at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards . There were, of course, moments that stood out for us, namely the hosting, which was filled by Andy Samberg and seemed little lackluster. However, that could be just us! Jon Hamm won an Emmy, for Outstanding Actor, finally and it was about time! Tracy Morgan , (who surprised Tina Fey) made an appearance and managed to be touching and funny at the same time. Viola Davis used her acceptance speech , as the first black woman to receive the Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy, to shine a light on the lack of "diversity" in Hollywood. Davis was roundly praised by some and " attacked " (it's so hard to judge when you haven't walked in someone else's shoes) by others. If nothing else Davis' speech and the controversy created a firestorm on some social media sites. "Transparent" creator, Jill Soloway , took the opportunity to highlight Transgender discriminatio

Brian Williams Returns For Papal Visit

Brian Williams made a low-key return to an anchor chair, at MSNBC , just in time to cover the historic Papal   Visit on Tuesday. From all accounts it seemed as if Williams was never off the air and his presence has elevated MSNBC's news coverage. Welcome back Brian Williams, it's as if you never left. Departures Continue at Bloomberg TV

Looks like the waters are still troubled at Bloomberg TV and the "exodus" continues. The question is will Mark Halperin and John Heilemann , who still make appearances on MSNBC's "Morning Joe", stick around. Fred Silverman Still Talking TV

Image
Great piece in TVNewsCheck about the legendary Fred Silverman , currently working on a memoir, who managed to run ABC, CBS and NBC, and put some of television's most memorable shows on the air. One of those shows, which is near and dear to me, being "Cheers". Silverman also ok'd "Real People", which could be seen as the forerunner of reality TV.
