The List of Emmys Winners 2014

Image
The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards are over. The most we can say is it was proficient, but exciting it was not. Although Bryan Cranston's acceptance speech, urging artists to stick with the dream, was appreciated. As we believe dreams do come true! The In Memoriam Tribute segment was touching and Sara Bareilles rendition of " Smile " gave us goosebumps. The Wrap has the complete list of winners. 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards Opening Monologue

Seth Meyer's opening monologue for the 66th Annual Emmy Awards. We're not sure if it was a hit or miss. Here's the full video of Seth Meyers's #Emmys opening monologue: http://t.co/varBd8aHvA pic.twitter.com/J3pjamnwWK — Vulture (@vulture) August 26, 2014

David Gregory Paid To Go Away Quietly?

Image
All is well that ends well. There are reports surfacing that NBC might have paid,  former "Meet The Press" moderator, David Gregory to leave. Gregory, who did not give a final broadcast this past Sunday, surprised viewers who expected a "goodbye, it's been nice". Instead veteran journalist Andrea Mitchell , who moderated this week and possibly until Chuck Todd takes over on September 7th, spoke about  David Gregory's contribution at the helm of MTP . Unfortunately for Gregory the MTP viewers, who fled in large numbers, didn't feel the same way. However, if reports are true, Gregory should feel a little better with $4 million in the bank. Chuck Todd New 'Meet The Press' Moderator

Image
Chuck Todd , NBC News political director, chief White House correspondent and host of " The Daily Rundown" , has been officially named as the new moderator of " Meet The Press" . Seemingly once rumors  of David Gregory being ousted from MTP began to swirl again, rather than speculation, the rumors were an early warning. Once thought to be "premature talk", apparently the consistent rumors served as encouragement for Gregory to leave on his own terms. Gregory announced today he was leaving   MTP and NBC News . Todd's first show will be September 7th. R.I.P Lauren BaCall

Image
Aside from being a beautiful young model featured on the cover of Harper's Bazaar , then a movie star during Hollywood's golden age (starring opposite some of hollywood's greats), Lauren Bacall was engaged in the world she lived in and politically active. Fortunate to have a career that spanned decades and included starring on Broadway , Ms. BaCall will forever be associated with, in our minds, old black&white movies, Humphrey Bogart and that velvety-husky voice. Ms. BaCall has left us with so many fond memories.

Rumors of David Gregory Being Ousted Still Flying

Image
It seems even a planned vacation can't quell rumors that NBC would like to replace David Gregory as moderator of Meet The Press . Politico  and Vanity Fair are out with stories suggesting Chuck Todd , host of The Daily Rundown (also known for letting talking points go unchallenged), is a likely replacement. Perhaps the premature talk of Gregory's ouster is more of an effort by NBC to encourage Gregory to leave, on his own terms, rather than having to push him out. Hint? R.I.P. Robin Willimans

Image
One of our members was fortunate enough to meet Robin Williams , a graceful man with a ready smile, when he was starring in Mork & Mindy . That meeting left our member and her friend, who were eager fans, with a good feeling about Williams. They felt good about being a fan and his appreciation of them, as fans, showed as well. We are saddened by this tragic loss. He will be missed.

Bill Cosby Comedy Moving Closer To A Deal

Image
It looks like NBC and Sony TV closed a deal  to bring one of America's favorite TV dads, Bill Cosby , back to primetime television.  We're amazed Cosby has managed to remain relevant and part of the conversation for nearly 50 years. Although Cosby has been criticized for comments he has made over the years, he proves you can be funny and keep it clean.  Related : The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same - Bill Cosby Is Still Relevant: VIDEO Bill Cosby Returns To NBC For Comedy Bill Cosby on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

FCC Allows Comcast and Time Warner To Participate in Honor

Image
We're surprised there are no rules that would prevent any FCC commissioner from allowing sponsorship from companies it plans to review.  Current commissioner  Mignon Clyburn  should understand, even if there are no rules, it just looks bad!
