ABC Family added to their already expansive programming slate with the pickup of “Jane By Design” a one-hour scripted drama. The addition of this latest show gives ABC Family a total of 5 scripted series, which are set to begin this summer.

USA Cable Network will offer 9 original series this summer.  Eight of the nine programs will be scripted. Considering Mad Men addicts will be suffering from withdrawal this summer, USA’s new slate of programming may ease the symptoms. While nothing in our minds can take the place of Mad Men, with gas prices on the rise and our dislike of retreads and reruns, new summer programming will be welcomed.

Rumors that Matt Lauer, host of “Today," will not re-sign when his contract ends in 20 months are not being denied. While Meredith Vieira is also reportedly leaving the show, replacing Vieira seems easy, however replacing Lauer may prove problematic. While some of us in the CC adore Matt, we will refer you to a recent MMT  post. Yes, the CC thinks Willie Geist would be the perfect replacement for Matt Lauer. 

Glenn Beck will end his show on the Fox News Channel later this year.  Beck is said to be leaving due to a drop in ratings and a boycott, although Beck will produce specials through his production company. We in the CC would like to think Beck is leaving because people are just tired of the crazy talk.
