If you are like most women and young girls who have owned or own a Barbie or two (and a Ken), then Barbie's "new body" is interesting news. Just for the record, we loved our Barbie just the way she was, but that was a long time ago! And to be honest most of us in The Conversation Circle, who owned Barbies, weren't so discerning about her body, (just getting a Barbie was a big deal) and the message it was sending. So it's good news that Mattel has issued three new Barbie body types, (reports are the changes were made to halt the brand's declining sales and criticism from parents) curvy, tall and petite. Hats off to this new generation of parents and girls who are affecting change. Looks like Barbie's "back in touch".
We're excited about Fall Back and wishing everyone a safe Happy Halloween! But is there a need to Trick or Treat this year? Most of us have been anxiously eating candy and wearing a mask for months! 😷 Jon Stewart is heading back to TV . We're wondering, after five years away from a nightly program, can and will Stewart's show for Apple live up to what are undoubtedly be high expectations. Yes, November 3rd is approaching! Having great material to work with, excellent writers, direction and a stellar cast takes some of the risk out of the equation. It is/was possible that viewers would watch all 13 episodes then cancel their subscription. However, Netflix's possible calculation that binge-watching HOC would become a social and media event was right. As the CC noted in another posting we first learned about HOC and the "drop" on Facebook. While we in the CC watch AMC's Mad Men and HBO's Boardwalk Empire waiting for the next episode does get tedious. Interestingly, one CC member has Netcast on their big screen TV and had access to Netflix for nearly three years and never tried it until HOC was released. Having wat
