Mika Brzezinski Expanding Female Focus


MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski, co-host of "Morning Joe", is "expanding her brand" with a new female-focused segment during Morning Joe's final half-hour. Morning Joe has been suffering from declining ratings, and overtaken by CNN in the key adult demo, at least since the beginning of the year. Morning Joe producers may be trying to leverage Brzezinski's popularity with females (she has 3 best-selling books) who are stay-at-home or looking to get back in the workforce. The question will be, will that audience be broad enough to move the numbers, and will that viewer begin to tune in for the earlier broadcast.

'Game of Thrones' Season 4 Is King

Ratings At 9PM on April 6, a total of 6.6 million viewers (including us) were watching the often bloody and grisly "Game Of Thrones" season 4 premiere. This was GoT's most-watched episode  to date, and the most-watched episode of any HBO series since 2007. Season four of GoT was up 52% from season three's premiere. Another 1.6 million viewers watched the show at 11PM and 1AM. Bringing the Nielsen's ratings up to 8.2 million. HBO GO (where our members were able to get caught up) is expected to drive the numbers even higher. As we've stated before, we just wish GoT would pick up the pace just a little bit.
